# Chinese Pattern Training

# Train Chinese until it comes out.
Not a phrasebook. Not a handful of survival dialogues. Chinese Pattern Training is a complete progressive production system: 152 intensive training units that begin at zero and build toward real B2-level spoken ability.

**152**PROGRESSIVE TRAINING UNITS**A0 → B2**ONE CONNECTED PATH**Thousands**OF TRAINING ENCOUNTERSWHAT YOU ACTUALLY DO
## A controlled amount every day. Then you drill it.
Each unit is a training cycle, not a five-minute lesson. You are given a controlled amount of new, high-value Chinese, then work it through listening, imitation, retrieval, substitution and production. Earlier material keeps returning so ability accumulates instead of disappearing behind the next lesson.

**01 · INPUT****Hear the language clearly.****02 · IMITATE****Make your mouth reproduce it.****03 · RETRIEVE****Produce it without simply reading.****04 · VARY****Change the sentence while keeping the pattern.****05 · RETURN****Old language comes back when it needs strengthening.**THE SCALE
## From first patterns to independent production.
The course is sequenced so the language becomes progressively richer. You do not spend months memorising tourist phrases and then suddenly face real Chinese. The same training mechanism keeps expanding what you can understand, retrieve, manipulate and say.

FOUNDATION**A0 → A1**Core sound, high-frequency language and the first reusable structures.

BUILD**A1 → A2**More combinations, faster retrieval and a much wider everyday range.

EXPAND**A2 → B1**Longer thoughts, more flexible structures and less dependence on prompts.

PRODUCE**B1 → B2**Increasingly complex Chinese trained for actual productive use.

![Learner listening to Chinese](https://eventuallyfluent.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/09/Mass-listening-language-learning.jpg)WHY SO MUCH REPETITION?
## Recognition is not production.
You can know thousands of words and still freeze when you need to speak. Pattern Training deliberately closes that gap. High-frequency language is encountered repeatedly in changing forms until producing it requires less conscious assembly. The goal is not to remember what a lesson said. The goal is to be able to use the Chinese it trained.

THE ECONOMICS OF FLUENCY
## Spend human time where humans matter.
The expensive part of language learning is not getting information. It is getting enough high-quality practice for the language to become available when you need it.

PRIVATE TUTORS**US$30–$60 an hour**Excellent for conversation, correction and interaction. But 100 hours at even $30 an hour is $3,000—and you still need far more repetition between sessions.

GROUP CLASSES**You share the practice.**Lower cost per hour, but the pace belongs to the class and your individual production time is necessarily limited.

CONVENTIONAL APPS**Cheap access is not enough.**Short lessons and recognition exercises can teach information. Pattern Training is built around thousands of structured encounters that repeatedly demand retrieval and production.

Use expensive human time for interaction and feedback. Use Pattern Training for the repetition no tutor should have to sit through with you.
